About the Author

Well, then. Lessee... My name is Joshua Lamont Coffin, though I'm known online as either Joshlamont or Nagiyd. The latter means "Conquerer" in Hebrew. It's a leftover from one of my gaming accounts. I'm a Christian, always and forever, with a definite bent towards Pentacostalism. I'm 18, and a Freshmen at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. My major is Biblical Studies, but I'm also minoring in Computer Science, and maybe Art. I dunno, so we'll see.

As anyone who knows me can tell you, I'm a computer wiz, and somewhat of a geek. Not a computer geek, though. All-around geek, and I also like Art, Drama, and Music. Actually, I love them, which seems to me to be quite a contrast with my mad computer skilz. Unfortunately, I fell in love with Art only recently, for otherwise my drawing skills would more refined than they are. I also like writing, though I never seem to have time for it. Ah, well. Maybe I'll force myself next November.

My interests... I like programming and creating web pages with spiffy javascript effects. If you want to make a good webpage, I suggest you get a good book on HTML and learn it yourself. An HTML editor can never replace a working knowledge of HTML - you should be able to make your pages in Notepad. Same thing with those neat javascript effects. In that case however, a book on DHTML (Dynamic HTML) would be easier for you than one on Javascript, and just as good.

I also like good books, like Lois Bujold's series on Miles Vorkosigan. Greatest bit of Science Fiction I've ever read. I also enjoy great movies like The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, and Gettysburg. I am an avowed Tolkeinite, and thus torn by the The Two Towers. A manificent piece of cinematography, they horribly RUINED Faramir's character!! You see my dilemma. Anyways, I also like nearly every kind of sport, but only if I can play. I hate watching sports! Ya gotta play ta have fun! Pool is the ultimate game. Always. Chess is a pretty fun pastime, but only so-so. I'm an avid gamer with little money, so while I may know a lot about computer and console games, I probably haven't played many of them.

I decided to start this comic somewhere around late April, being inspired by such great comics as Sluggy Freelance, Megatokyo, and College Roomies from Hell!!!, and my own o'erweening pride in my drawing and writing abilities. The first of the latter two was soon crushed by the second comic, and the second somewhere around July. Fortunately, I'm quite good with programs such as Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, and thus can hide most of my artwork with dazzling CG effects (or so I hope). Since most people seem to ask what it takes to make a comic, I'll tell you what I use. Basically, a regular pencil and blank paper. After I'm done drawing, I ink it in with an extra fine pen, and erase the pencil (this is IMPORTANT if you want to color your comic!) Then I scan it in and color it. I also usually create a layer below the comic for a background. Tada! Then you post it to the web and hope people don't notice all the defects you see.

Sincerely,
Joshua Lamont Coffin
